2019 Youth Remodeling Career Day

It was a beautiful fall day last Wednesday at the Bolton Fair Grounds, where EM NARI hosted it’s 4th Annual Youth Remodeling Career Day.

Approximately 500 students from 16 area voc-tech schools had the opportunity to try several hands-on tasks at over 30 activity stations around the grounds. After receiving their safety goggles and hard hats, they were ushered from station to station by EM NARI volunteers.

The activities ranged from using dry ice to remediate mold to learning how to frame a wall, to sanding a hardwood floor. There was even a race to see who could install a toilet the fastest! Vendors ranging from Marvin Windows to Kohler to Festool were on hand to show their products to the students.

In addition to the hands-on booths, there was an area set up for mock interviews so the students could practice their skills.  This event has been a huge success in getting the word out to high school students about all the options available to them in the remodeling industry. EM NARI even sponsors a scholarship each year for a student going into the trades.

One exhibitor, C and R Flooring has even hired several employees as a result of this event. After a student from Blue Hills Regional Technical School expressed interest, they hired him and now they have an internship program that has resulted in several hires over the last 2 years. It was a fun and educational day for all.

THANK YOU SPONSORS!!!
