It turns out that barbecue and lumber are a great combination! The November meeting, hosted by F.D. Sterritt Lumber in Watertown, drew a large crowd of members and guests. The Smokey Stax BBQ and open bar created a festive atmosphere as members mingled and networked with one another in the lumber warehouse. There was no formal program but Sterritt staff were on hand to answer questions. Vendor tables included James Hardie for siding, and Holden & Humphreys. In addition, F. D. Sterritt Lumber’s sister company, MacLeod & Moynihan Window and Door had a table featuring Marvin & Integrity windows, TruStile and Jeldwen.
Owner Richard Mackin was at the event along with his wife, Claudia, who once again baked a table full of pumpkin loaves and banana breads for guests to take home.
Before dinner there was a New Member Orientation led by Michelle Glassburn and Justin Zeller, who provided an overview of the EM NARI Chapter. Some of the chair people spoke about their committees, giving new members an idea of the programming and benefits EM NARI offers: Tom Hart, from Encore Construction, spoke about the Education committee; Chris Manley, from ROI, spoke about the Membership committee; Justin Zeller spoke about the Marketing & PR committee; and Ron Peik from Alpine Environmental spoke about the Government Affairs committee. In addition, Jim Lavallee of Lavallee Systems spoke about the Ethics committee and Stephen Ross from Commonwealth Financial Group, spoke about Youth Remodeling Career Day. Not present, but chair of the CotY committee and Workforce Development is EM NARI chapter President, Kathy DeMeyer from Encore Construction. Bill Farnsworth of Custom Contracting heads the Golf Tournament committee.
Thank you to our meeting host, the team at F.D. Sterritt Lumber.
