It was a beautiful fall day for our 6th annual Youth Remodeling Career Day held at the Bolton Fair Grounds on October 17th. The event’s purpose is to offer hands-on activities, sponsored by members of the PRO New England organization so students can experience different aspects and areas of the residential remodeling community.

Over 500 students from 11 area Vocational Technical High Schools attended the day-long event. Volunteers led them from station to station once they were outfitted with their hard hats and protective goggles. Over a dozen stations, ranging from nail driving to wall framing to using a coping saw were offered. In addition, there were opportunities to meet with various partner vendors to the trade. These stations ranged from creating a mood board to learning about Home Design software.

One of the standout stations, and a favorite among the students, was the mock interview sessions. Here, each student had the chance to sit across from a seasoned owner or manager, engaging in mock interviews to refine their professional skills. This invaluable experience not only demystified the interview process but also instilled in them a sense of confidence and preparedness for their future careers.

The day culminated with students taking home more than just newfound knowledge and skills. Fun swag served as mementos of the event, and countless memories of a day spent in the world of remodeling were etched into their minds. This annual event is a testament to the dedication of PRO volunteers who poured their time and effort into ensuring its success. It’s a day where experienced professionals invest in the future of the industry by mentoring and guiding the next generation of tradespeople.

Thanks to all the PRO volunteers who worked so hard to make this a successful event. It was a great day, and we can’t wait until next year!
