Challenges and Opportunities for Home Remodeling in 2024 with Abbe H. Will, Senior Research Associate and Associate Project Director, Remodeling Futures at the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University. Join us to learn what the data is suggesting.
2024 is shaping up to be a challenging year for home remodeling after a period of phenomenal growth for the industry. Although remodeling faces meaningful headwinds in the near term, numerous factors such as the aging housing stock, favorable household demographics, and a growing need to make homes more accessible, energy-efficient, and disaster resilient are expected to support longer-term growth in home improvement and repair spending in the US.
Abbe H. Will has over 15 years of experience conducting economic and demographic research and statistical analysis of the US home improvement and repair industry. She manages and contributes research to the Center’s Improving America’s Housing report series and administers the quarterly Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity (LIRA), a short-term projection of national home improvement and repair spending.
